Master Data Information
The simple way to manage master data in Microsoft Dynamics NAV
– without any customizations to the solution
All Supply Chain companies using Microsoft Dynamics NAV need to extend the standard Item, Customer and Vendor cards with additional fields to be able to manage specific information like special measurements, colors, quantities per packet, information for the web shop, etc.
This usually causes a mess of new fields and customizations.
The add-on ‘Master Data Information’ enables you to structure and manage master data without any customization or programming in your NAV-solution.
You simply create new fields as attributes yourself.
It is simple to set up now – and easy to upgrade in the future.
For the Financial Manager
- Save data as attributes
- No need for adding new fields
- Lower customization cost
- Easier and cheaper upgrading in the future
For Purchasing and Planning
- No limit to what types of information you can save
- Copy attributes to entire blocks of data
- Customize how data is displayed per function or user
For Sales and Marketing
- Centralized maintenance of text and pictures for sites, webshops, product catalogues etc.
- Export capabilities across all data
- Bulk data updates, ie. when a product changes name
Core functions in Master Data Information
How does Master Data Information work?
One place for all Master Data information.
All attribute data is stored in one place in Dynamics NAV and the data can be used in many different ways.
Data is structured according to whether it is an attribute, text or picture, but it can also be seen as a whole.
Can be used for various master data tables
From Items, Customers or Vendors, information related to those records can be seen.
You can also save data to Item Categories, Product Groups or Production Bill of Materials, or you can get a developer to add more Master Data tables for which you need to be able to specify attributes.
Two different access methods to the data
From the Item, Customer or Vendor you can either open the configuration window where all attributes of the record in question can be viewed in a list.
You can also open the Attribute Matrix where many records are listed downwards and selected values are listed as columns.
You can work with an unlimited number of Attribute Matrices.
Configurable display gives a better overview
An Attribute matrix displays records downwards, such as items. In a setup you can define which fields you want as columns, either from the item card or attributes.
This allows you to define many different working views yourself, such as all web texts in Swedish, volume, weights and package data, Main Sales KPIs or whatever you need.
